Mavis Aone Bruening was born on December 30, 1941, to David and Selma (Wigen) McCartney, in Hendricks, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in Hendricks and she graduated from the Hendricks High School with the class of 1959.
On June 13, 1959, Mavis was united in marriage to Curt Bruening at her parent’s home in Hendricks. The couple made their home and farmed at Boot Hill, South of Ivanhoe, for many years. Mavis was a proud farm wife, homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She also worked as a Bar Maid and Nurses’ Aide. She and Curt spent over 48 years of marriage together prior to his passing in October of 2007.
Mavis found love again when she met Bud Fehrman in 2009 and, together, they revived her family farm. The couple spent 10 years together before Mavis lost her fiancé, Bud, when he died on July 5, 2019.
Mavis loved spending time with her grandchildren, Anna and Logan. She attended their concerts, school activities, and lunch whenever possible. She enjoyed going to rummage sales and thrift shops, and watching Bud bowl. She loved to square dance and decorate for the holidays. She had been a part of 4-H, extension, card parties and birthday club with the neighbors, Bethany-Elim Lutheran Church Ladies Aide, and many other groups through the years. She loved her Bethany-Elim Lutheran church family and was an active participant including the quilt group.
Mavis Bruening entered her Heavenly home on September 18, 2019. She reached the age of 77 years, 8 months, and 19 days. She was outgoing, boisterous, and loved to have a good time; she will be dearly missed.
Mavis is survived by her 3 children; Denton (and Maryann) Bruening of Inver Grove Heights, Denette (and Bill) Lynch of Duluth, Dealyn Rose (and Chris Cordes) of Marshall; grandchildren, Logan and Anna; other relatives and many friends.
Preceding her in death are parents, David and Selma McCartney; husband, Curt Bruening; and fiancé, Bud Fehrman.
