Michael Gene Haas, age 59, of Marshall, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, August 9, 2015, at his home in Marshall. Memorial services are Tuesday August 11, 2015, 2:00 PM at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Marshall. Interment will be in the Canby City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at the church.

Michael Gene Haas was born on August 14, 1955 in Canby, Minnesota. He was the son of Carl and Jeannette (Larson) Haas. He was baptized and was confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Marshall, Minnesota. He grew up in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School class of 1974. Mike also served as an Air Borne Ranger. He came home when his dad passed away in 1979.
As a young man, Mike lived in the Twin Cities and worked many odd jobs. He also was employed at a veterinary clinic in Hampton, MN where he resided for 20 years. Mike moved back to Marshall 13 years ago, and met his Life Partner, Shari Citterman. He worked all over Marshall including at a veterinary clinic, the YMCA, and most recently for Cornerstone United Methodist Church as custodian for the last 6 years.
Mike had many enjoyments in his life. He loved to listen to and dance to music, especially Country, Rock & Roll and Elvis. Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to call his siblings and share his great gift of storytelling. He had a great love for his birds, his favorite being his Green-headed Amazon Parrot named “Goobie”. Mike enjoyed playing drums, watching Vikings and spending time with his family and girlfriend. He will be dearly missed.
Michael died on Sunday, August 9, 2015, at his home in Marshall MN at the age of 59 years, 11 months, and 26 days. Blessed be his memory.
Michael is survived by his life partner, Shari Citterman of Marshall, MN; mother, Jeanette Haas of Marshall, MN; siblings, Debbie Hoflock, of Lake Benton, MN, Richard (Patty) Haas of Farmington, MN, Johnny (Laurie) Haas of Sioux Falls, SD, Robert (Bernie) Haas of Bloomington, MN; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Haas, and his grandparents, Richard and Helen Haas and Kenneth and Arnelda Larson.
Following the luncheon, burial will be at the Canby City Cemetery.
