Nancy Kay Holm was born on October 20, 1948, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Ben and Delores (Koppien) Holm. She was baptized at East Side Lutheran Church and lived in Garretson, SD. The family soon moved to Marshall where she grew up the oldest of four children and was confirmed at First Lutheran Church. Nancy loved to go back to Sioux Falls and stay with her grandparents, Burto and Lila Koppien, and had very fond memories of them. Her lifelong passion for sewing started in high school and she would make new outfits for herself often. She graduated from Marshall High School with the class of 1966.
On June 11, 1966, Nancy was united in marriage to Gail Schipansky at First Lutheran Church in Marshall. The couple made their home in Marshall and raised their 2 children, Tim and Tammy. Nancy worked at Standard Chemical as a bookkeeper and then she moved on to work with her father at Prestige Auto Body. She and her father, Ben, worked together for many years before she joined Gail in their family business, Sky Printing. Nancy learned a new trade, graphic design and took so much pride in her work there. She enjoyed the people she worked with and grew to be known throughout the community. She genuinely loved to visit with everyone.
Nancy was a loving caretaker for her mother and mother-in-law, and always was looking for ways to help other people. She loved gardening and sewing in her spare time but loved to visit her grandchildren and great-grandchildren the most.
Following the recent explosion of their home outside Marshall, Nancy died in St. Paul, Minnesota, at the age of 71 years, 10 months, and 13 days. Blessed be her memory.
She is survived by her children, Tim (Yvette) Schipansky of Scottsdale, AZ, Tammy (Curt) Lilleodden of Solon, IA; 6 grandchildren, Timothy Cole Schipansky of Scottsdale, AZ, Logan Schipansky of Scottsdale, AZ, Sarah (Robert) LeGarde of Duluth, Ben Lilleodden of Duluth, John Lilleodden of Cedar Rapids, IA, Christine Lilleodden of Solon, IA; 2 great-granddaughters, Olivia LeGarde, Penelope LeGarde; siblings, Peggy (Robert) Maeyaert of Dickenson, ND, Kathy (Steve) Marks of Northfield, MN, David (Judy) Holm of Phoenix, AZ; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
