Neva Louise Manguson was born on August 11, 1927, to Sidney and Dora (Knieff) Manguson on the family farm near Milroy, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended country school near Marshall. She then graduated from Marshall High School with the class of 1945, before finding employment with JCPenney. She worked there about two years and then a lady came into the store and asked her if she would be interested in working at the telephone company...It paid a little more money and she then went to work there for about 5 years before she and a friend moved to Long Beach, California, to work. Neva stayed there for about 5 more years and then transferred to Minneapolis in the late 1950s.
Neva was an active member of Spirit of Hope Methodist Church in Golden Valley, Minnesota, prior to her move. She was instrumental in the ladies’ group there and helped with numerous rummage sales through the church. Neva loved to travel; highlights included several cruises and train trips across the country. She always had a little extra time to go shopping and enjoyed the hunt for a good deal. Neva could often be found dancing enjoying the music and spending time socializing with friends.
As Neva needed more assistance with her care, she moved into assisted living in December of 2010 and then to the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Balaton, Minnesota, in March of 2012. Her most recent move was to Morningside Heights in Marshall in 2019. Neva died peacefully there on August 4, 2022, just one week shy of her 95th birthday. Blessed be her memory.
