Harold and Lou raised their family in Lyon County, eventually settling in Marshall. After the couple retired from farming, Lou worked many years as a Physical Therapy Aide at Wiener Memorial Hospital in Marshall. Lou retired in 1989.
Lou was mother first and foremost, always looking after her family and caring for many others in a time of need. She was a faithful member of Wesley and then Cornerstone United Methodist Church. She was also active in the Adult Community Center and enjoyed driving her ’73 Mustang convertible as part of the Shades Of The Past car club, and in Southwest Minnesota State University homecoming parades. Lou’s other enjoyments in life included making rugs and quilts, playing cards, doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and trying her luck at the casino. Many will remember her sarcastic sense of humor and pranks; Lou was never afraid to call it like it was.
