Rachel A. Knudson, age 95, of Maple Plain, formerly of Cottonwood, passed away at the Haven Homes Care Center in Maple Plain on Tuesday, April 29, 2008. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Rachel Alpha Lien was born on November 24, 1912 to Anton and Ronoug (Mathestad) Lien in Cottonwood, MN. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed at Silo Lutheran Church. She graduated from Cottonwood High School. She then went on to Nurse’s Training in Montevideo.
On August 7, 1933 she was united in marriage to Wendell Knudson. They had two daughters, Elizabeth and Darlene. Rachel lived in Cottonwood until the Spring of 1993 when she moved to Minnetonka, Minnesota.
Rachel loved her family and friends, her Cottonwood, and all things Norwegian.
Rachel passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at the Haven Homes Nursing Home in Maple Plain, Minnesota. She reached the age of 95 years. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived be her daughters, Elizabeth (and John) Lundquist of Long Lake and Darlene ( and Eric) Lyford of Minnetonka; six grandchildren, Anthony Lundquist, Erika Lundquist, Matthew (and Emily) Langan, Allison Langan, Brianna Langan, and Sean Langan; great-granddaughter, Savanna Langan; sisters, Lila Roti and Rosie (and John) Plocker; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell; parents, Anton and Ronoug Lien; and brothers, Arden and Victor Lien.
