Ralph Hass, age 88, of Marshall, died at Morningside Heights Health Care Center on Tuesday, March 4, 2008. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Monday, March 10, at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Visitation will take place at the Hamilton Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Sunday, March 9, with a prayer service at 7:00 and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Russell City Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall.
Ralph John Hass was born to August and Anna (Bierman) Hass on July 5, 1919 in Island Lake Township, Minnesota. He attended school in District 22. On March 31, 1940, he was united in marriage to Abbie Orren at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Island Lake Township. Ralph and Abbie lived and farmed in Lyon County their whole lives. He retired in 1980. Ralph and Abbie were married for a wonderful 67 years.
Ralph enjoyed camping and fishing. He also liked to play bingo and card games.
He is survived by his wife, Abbie of Marshall; daughters, Virginia Rieck (Donald) of Phoenix, AZ, and Joyce Vogt of Marshall; grandchildren, Renee Boese of Pipestone, Ryan (Mary) Rieck of Phoenix, and Curtis Vogt of Marshall; great-grandchildren, Meagan Rieck of Pheonix, Samantha Rieck of Phoenix, and Catherine Vogt of Russell; a sister, Elizabeth Orren of Watertown, SD; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents, August and Anna; brothers, Earl Hass and Carl Hass; sister, Caroline Thooft; grandsons, Dennis Rieck, David Vogt, and Lonny Boese; and a son-in-law, Dean Vogt.
