Randy Steven Martin was born on March 24, 1955, in Marshall, Minnesota. He was born to Donald and Shirley (Wendorff) Martin. Randy was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. He spent his childhood in Marshall. After graduating from Marshall High School in 1973, he furthered his education at Minnesota West Community and Technical College in Pipestone where he received his associate degree.

On May 31, 1975, Randy was united in marriage to Sandra Bednarek at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. The couple made their home in Worthington for a number of years before moving to Winona, Minnesota. It was there that the couple raised their two children, Jessica and Joshua. Randy owned and operated a Convenience Store and Bus Station. He later owned the local liquor store and dry cleaner. In the 1980s, Randy entered his career with Schwan's, and over the course of his employment, he worked up to a Sales Manager. His career took him next to Owatonna for a number of years, before living in Georgia for 8 years. However, his early Schwan's connections brought him back to Marshall in the early 2000s, where he now lived.

In 1986, Randy was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Randy faced many hardships throughout his initial diagnosis and as the disease progressed, but Randy persevered. He continued to work for Schwan's and was able to enjoy many of his hobbies, namely hunting, fishing, water skiing, and golfing. When his body was no longer able to keep up with these activities, he found enjoyment in watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, and Randy always appreciated spending time with his family and friends.

Randy Martin died under the care of hospice on Thursday, March 9, 2023, in Marshall, Minnesota. He reached the age of 67 years, 11 months, and 13 days. Blessed be his memory.
