Raymond Langswierdt, age 72, of Marshall, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 10:30 am at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Military honors will be preformed by the Marshall Veterans.
Raymond Omer was born on July 8, 1941 in Minneota, Minnesota to Omer and Adeline (Gregg) Langswierdt. He was baptized, received First Communion and Confirmation at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. He attended and graduated from the Marshall High School.
On July 22, 1959, he joined the United States Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge on July 17, 1963. During his life, Ray’s employment included Assistant Manager for Target Stores in Brooklyn Center, a milk truck driver for the National Farmers Organization, owner of the Amoco Station in Marshall, and a manager for Schwans in Redding, CA. Ray moved to Balaton in 2000, and he became a supervisor at the Marshall Walmart for eight years. On May 27, 2014 he became a confirmed member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Balaton MN. Ray’s enjoyments were racing sprint cars, firing weapons at the range and flying.
Ray passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. He had reached the age of 72 years, 11 months and 6 days.
Ray is survived two sons, Todd of Texas and Jeff of Ruthton; two brothers, Ron of Texas and Roger of Canby; sister, Lorraine Hoffman of Minneapolis; and his good friend, Jim Wichmann of Balaton. He is preceded by his parents.
Ray was very proud of the Langswierdt name which in Belgium means “Long Sword”. Blessed be the memory of Raymond Landswierdt.
