Marshall: Rhoda Fredericks, age 82, of Marshall, passed away at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center on Friday, June 15, 2012. Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 18, at 2 P.M. at Sillerud Lutheran Church rural Balaton. Visitation will be 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. Sunday, at Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Rhoda was born on July 16, 1929 in New York City, New York to Jacob and Tillie (Rand) Weisbrod. She attended Girls Commercial High School in New York City and received her G.E.D.
On June 14, 1947, Rhoda was united in marriage to Richard A. Spielman in Belaire, Maryland. To this union, three sons were born: Keith, Gary and Steve. After the couple’s marriage, she worked as an operator for a New York telephone company. In May of 1951, the couple moved and resided in Tracy for twenty years where Rhoda was a homemaker. Rhoda moved to Marshall in May 1971. Rhoda worked for Club 59, Earth II, Happy Chef and DAC (Robert Milton Home). She begin employment with Schwans in 1979 and continued there for the next ten years, retiring in 1988. Rhoda passed away at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center on Friday, June 15, 2012. She had reached the age of 82 years, 10 months & 30 days.
Rhoda is survived by her three sons. Keith (and Karen) Spielman of Fargo, ND, Gary (and Rose) Spielman of East Grand Forks and Steve (and Kathy) Spielman of Balaton; five granddaughters, Stephanie Spielman, Lu Ann Borresen, Kari Spielman, Clover (and Matthew) Anderson and Heather Spielman; one grandson, Matthew Spielman; and six great-grandchildren, Jaelyn, Wyatt & Katey Borresen and Everett, Xavier & Sullivan Anderson; nephew, Torin Weisbrod of Long Island, NY; and niece, Tina Weisbrod of San Francisco, CA.
Rhoda was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Amy Lee Spielman; two brothers, Sidney and Harry Weisbrod and special friends Myron Pederson and Judy Delp.
Rhoda was a very compassionate person. Her many enjoyments in life included reading, walking, swimming, music, arts and crafts, animals (especially Brandy), watching TV, traveling and children.
Rhoda was a faithful member of the Assembly of God Church at the time of her death.
