Rolland Carl Hass

Rolland Hass, age 84, of rural Russell, Minnesota, died on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at his home. Memorial Services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota. Following a light reception for attendees, interment with military honors will be at the Hope Cemetery in Tyler, Minnesota. Visitation will be held one hour prior to his service, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, also at the Hamilton Funeral Home. 

Rolland Carl Hass was born to Carl Lester and Elda Marie (Polesky) Hass on March 7, 1940, in Lyon County, Minnesota. In 1944, the family moved to a farm near Russell, Minnesota. Rolland attended Russell High School and graduated with the class of 1958. He then enlisted and honorably served three years in the United States Army.

Rolland was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Russell, where he taught Sunday School classes. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He was able to live out his love of farming, first outside Marshall, Minnesota, and then upon his father's retirement in 1969, Rolland returned to care for the farm where he had spent his childhood and years as a young adult. He still was caring for his land and animals, never able to retire from what he lived to do.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Rolland Carl Hass, of Russell, Minnesota. He died peacefully at his home on August 8, 2024. Rolland had reached the age of 84 years, 5 months, and 1 day.

He is lovingly remembered by his brother, Earl (and Frances) Hass; sister, Patricia Alford; nieces and nephews, Leslie (and Troy) Meissner, Tanya (and Christopher Brost) Hass, Cary Hass, Vicki Leinen, Scott (and Dana) Alford, Mark (and Cristina) Alford; other relatives and friends.

Rolland was preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Elda Hass; sister, Marie Marshall Mohr Hogge; and his niece, Cheri Lynne Hass - daughter of Earl and Frances Hass.
