Ruby Erla Nybo

Ruby Nybo, age 85, of Marshall and formerly of Tracy, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017, at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall, Minnesota. Funeral Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota. Following a reception, interment will be in the Tracy City Cemetery. Visitation will be held before the service, from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall.

Ruby Erla VanMeveren was born on January 23, 1932, in Rural Murray County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Earl and Irene (Nelson) VanMeveren. Ruby attended school in Tracy, Minnesota where she grew up. On February 4th,1947 Ruby was united in marriage to Paul Robert Nybo in Tracy, MN. They had 5 children: Larry, Joyce, Paul, Thomas, and James. The couple made their home in Tracy until 1968 when they moved to Madison. In 1974, the family moved back to Tracy.

Ruby worked for Swift & Co. in Marshall for nearly 20 years until it closed. She then worked at the Tracy Nursing Home tending to housekeeping and laundry. She did not retire until age 75. 9 years ago, Ruby moved to Marshall where she resided until her passing.

Ruby enjoyed vegetable gardening – especially tomatoes and cucumbers, her faithful chihuahua Tippy, shopping online, and thrift stores or flea markets. Ruby loved spending every possible moment around her large extended family; caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, keeping her young at heart.

Ruby Nybo passed on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the age of 85 years, 5 months, and 21 days. Blessed be her memory.

Ruby is survived by her 4 children, Joyce Deuel of South Sioux City, NE, Paul “Terry” (and Barb) Nybo of Clarkfield, MN, Thomas (and Sandi) Nybo of Marshall, MN, Jim (and Sue) Nybo of Marshall, MN; 1 sister, Renne Nelson; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Irene VanMeveren; husband, Paul Nybo; infant son, Larry Nybo; son-in-law, Ronnie Deuel; 4 brothers; Glen, Dean “Dutchy”, Bill, Ike; and sister, Dorothy “Dot”.
