Ruby Mary Lou (Prairie) Cichos, age 88, of Arco, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Tyler. Funeral services are Friday, December 26, 2014, 1:00 PM, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota. Interment will be at a later date. Visitation will be held from Noon - 1:00 PM, one hour prior to the service at the Hamilton Funeral Home.

Ruby Mary Lou was born on December 11, 1926 in Lyon County to Hawley and Lydia (Wilsand) Green. She graduated from Lynd High School in 1944. After school, Ruby was united in marriage to Harry Prairie. To this union her three sons were born: Bruce, John, and Mike. The couple farmed in Lynd until Harry’s death in 1967.

In 1972, Ruby was united in marriage to Dennis Cichos at the Brick Manor in Arco. Ruby was a wonderful homemaker, waitress and farmer’s wife. Ruby entered the Tyler Nursing Home in September 2009.

Ruby was a member of American Legion, VFW Auxiliary and the Red Hats. Her other enjoyments in life included coffee, cooking pies, canning, quilting, Polka and music, gardening, dancing, crocheting and mending.

Ruby passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Tyler. She had reached the age of 88 years and 6 days. Blessed be her memory.

Ruby is survived by her two sons, John (Bonnie) Prairie, of Willmar and Mike Prairie, of Tyler; daughter-in-law, Lynette Prairie of Marshall; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Steve) Kvernmo, of Dundas, Jason (Leslie) Prairie, of Rochester, Heather (Joe) Higgins, of Coon Rapids, Seth Prairie, of Willmar, Laura (Joe) Gaarsland, of Fargo, ND, Hannah Prairie, of Willmar and Kyle (Sarah) Baklund, of Sauk Rapids; twelve great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Kylie Kvernmo, Joey, Kethry and Joshua Prairie, Joey and Devin Higgins, Madison, Kaden, Peyton, Jamison Gaarsland, Carter Baklund, and Christian and Samairah Prairie; special friends, Irja Miles, of Houston, MO and Pat Bunjer, of Arco; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ruby is preceded in death by her husbands, Harry Prairie and Dennis Cichos; parents, Hawley and Lydia Wilsand; son, Bruce; three brothers Virgil, Milo and Frank Green; and grandson, Cass Prairie.

The family invites everyone for coffee and cookies at the funeral home following the service.
