Ruth Timm, age 94, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the Prairie Home Hospice – McLaughlin House in Marshall, Minnesota. Memorial Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2024, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marshall, Minnesota. A luncheon for attendees will follow at the church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her celebration, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Friday, also at the church. A private spring burial will be in the St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery in Wood Lake, Minnesota.
Ruth Irene Timm was born on May 8, 1930, at the family home in Posen Township, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Erwin and Ella (Mohwinkel) Timm. Ruth grew up on the family farm and attended country school in Wood Lake, Minnesota. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed in her youth at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. She later attended Wood Lake High School where she met Gordon Timm.
Ruth and Gordon were united in marriage on December 14, 1947, on her parents' farm. The couple made their home briefly in Minneapolis before moving back to the home place. Then in 1966 they moved their growing family to Marshall, Minnesota. Ruth served the Marshall school district as a library aide and cook. She was proud to have worked for so many years with children before her retirement in 1992.
Ruth was active in her church and served in a variety of roles. Her enjoyments in life included reading, antiquing, watching the news, following Minnesota sport teams, cooking, and baking - especially Christmas treats for her family. She was always very supportive of family and cherished all interactions with them; she particularly looked forward to their yearly week at the lake in northern Minnesota where family memories accumulated over many decades.
Ruth died under the care of hospice on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in Marshall, Minnesota. She reached the age of 94 years, 6 months, and 27 days. Blessed be her memory.
She is survived by her 4 daughters, Charlotte Bode of Wood Lake, Cindy (Rollie) Rokeh of Balaton, Nancy (Jed) Fritzemeier of Chelsea, MI, Melissa (John) Linn of Eau Claire, WI; son-in-law, Mike (Bonnie) Polman of Wentzeville, MO; 11 grandchildren, Michelle Bode, Brian Bode, Benjamin (Jessica) Polman, Jeremy (Erin) Polman, Robin (Ryan) Riley, Heidi (Drew) Olson, Holly (and Michael) Price, Wesley Fritzemeier, Ella (Marco) Pasquinelli, Josh (Kaitlyn) Linn, Matt Linn; 18 great-grandchildren and another on the way; a great-great-granddaughter; sister, Beverly Jeseritz of Farwell; sister-in-law, Marlene Timm of Sauk Rapids; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Ella Timm; husband, Gordon Timm; daughter, Patricia Polman; son-in-law, Robert Bode; grandson, Mark Bode; brother, Elwood Timm; and sister, Orla Timm.
