Marshall: Ruth E. Zmeskal, age 95, of Marshall, formerly of Burnsville, passed away at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center on Sunday, September 14, 2014. Private graveside services will be 12:05 P.M. Monday, September 22nd at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery. The Hamilton Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Ruth Elizabeth was born February 26, 1919 in Grasston, Minnesota to Axel and Ida (Nelson) Edberg. She graduated from the Grasston High School and then worked as a cook for the Nash family until her marriage. On June 19, 1941, Ruth was united in marriage to Aldrich Zmeskal in Minneapolis. To this union four children were born, namely, Lawrence, Robert, James, and Mark. Aldrich passed away in 2007 and at that time Ruth moved to Marshall to be near James and his family. She was a member of the River Hills Methodist Church in Burnsville. The love of her life was doing things with and for her family. Her enjoyments were square dancing for over 40 years, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, and watching golf and baseball on tv. She is survived by three children, Lawrence (and Sandy) of Tucson, AZ, Robert (and Susan) of Burnsville, and James (and Lisa) of Marshall; eight grandchildren, Charles, Daryl, Cory (and Kerri), Karey, Erin (and Darren) Greer, Stacy (and Jeremy) Stephens, Ashley, and Mark; eight great grandchildren, Alexis, Austin, Connor, Keegan, Kiernan, Heston, Jackson and Abigail; along with many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Aldrich; son, Mark; and nine siblings, Ida, Henry, Herbert, George, Richard, Mildred, Russell, Doris and Lorraine. Blessed be the memory of Ruth E.
