Steven Wixon, age 58, of Florence, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 24th at 3:00 pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 23rd from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home and on Monday one hour prior to the service. A prayer service will be at 6:30pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Steven Ward Wixon was born on April 30, 1955 in Marshall to Wesley and Marie (Kuchera) Wixon in Marshall. Steven was raised by his mother and step-dad, Don Fruke. He attended school and graduated from Balaton High School in 1973. He was united in marriage to Diane Petersen. To this union four boys were born. They were later divorced. Steven was a diesel mechanic for Viessmann Trucking in Marshall and many local farmers and truck drivers. He loved hunting, fishing and enjoyed listening to music.
Steven is survived by his four boys; Brian (Carol) Wixon of Marshall, Todd (Mindy) Wixon and Danny Wixon both of Brookings, SD and Austin Wixon of Florence, six grandchildren; Kailey, Brayden, Brody, Izak, Alyssa and Karter Wixon, his father and step-mother; Wesley (Marlene) Wixon of North Dakota, his siblings; Pam (Steve) Fogelson of Fairmont, Janell Wixon of Colorado, Deb Fedde of Balaton and Craig Wixon of Stickney, SD and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father; Don and Marie Fruke.
