Stuart Macdonald, age 89, of Marshall, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center. His funeral will be held on Monday, August 4th at 1:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Marshall.
Stuart Errol Macdonald was born on March 2, 1919 in Elbow Lake, MN to Errol and Marjorie (Sanford) Macdonald. He attended school at Shakopee High School, graduating in 1936.
On June 27, 1942 Stuart was united in marriage to Dorathy Sund in Albert Lea, Minnesota. To this union five children were born. Stuart was an avid card player. He attended the University of MN, Minneapolis, where he played football and lettered 3 years as a Golden Gopher basketball player. He also played Semi-pro baseball at Monticello. He served in World War Two as a First Lt. in the Medical Corps. He taught Physical Education at Marshall High School for over 30 years. He ran Stu's Drive-In for 15 years.
He is survived by children: Sanford (and Patricia) MacDonald of Marshfield, WI ; Linda MacDonald of Palm Coast, FL; Maureen (and Rodney) German of Fort Worth, TX; Jim (and Karen) Macdonald of Marshall MN; Mary (and Tim) Warkentin, of Concordia, KS.
He has 5 grand-daughters, Cathy, Elizabeth, Debbie, Valerie, and Angel; 2 grandsons, Hank and Stu; and 3 great-grand-children, Marilyn Faith, Isaiah, and Andrew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; on Dec. 16, 1994.
