Yancy Derringer, age 58, of Tracy, Minnesota, with family by his side died on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Hospice of Murray County in Slayton. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 19, 2018, at Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Monday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall.
Yancy Maverick Derringer was born on May 11, 1959, to parents Robert and Anna (Yovanavich) Derringer. He grew up in Indiana where he attended grade school and later earned his GED. Yancy worked several manufacturing jobs, was married, and had 2 children, Amy and Alex.
In 2011, Yancy moved to Tennessee to begin working with BlueScope Buildings in Jackson, Tennessee. Then, following his diagnosis with pancreatic cancer, he moved to Tracy to be closer to his children in April of 2017.
Yancy enjoyed fishing and playing with his grandchildren. He was a very friendly and social person, talked to anyone, especially while hanging outside the gas station with a coffee in hand.
Yancy is survived by his daughter, Amy Graw of Tracy; son, Alex Derringer of Marshall; 5 grandchildren, Karter (and Rikki) Graywolf of Murray, KY, Jonathon Graw, of Tracy, Joey Graw of Tracy, Kayla Graw of Tracy, Kaitlyn Graw of Tracy; great-granddaughter, Jayden Graywolf of Murray, KY; pet lab, Tippy; brothers, Dan (and Deb) Derringer in MI, Lawrence Derringer in TN, Chuck (and Pat) Derringer in MO; sisters, Sharon (and Kent) Pulley in IL, Judy Derringer in PA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Anna Derringer; and siblings, Nick Derringer and Elaine Wheat.
